Participatory Planning Office, Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava
The office actively involves residents and relevant actors through participatory processes into city's intentions and projects, whether these are projects like redesigns of public space, city investment projects or the creation of strategies, concepts and policies.
Our values are openness and a positive approach to involving people and organizations in creation of the city. We seek interdisciplinary approach, ie we involve diverse knowledge and perspectives in solving complex issues of the city.
The aim of the participatory process is to identify needs, increase the quality of accepted intentions, but also strengthen the public's relationship with the city and specific spaces. The Participatory Planning Office seeks to involve a wide range of people, as well as groups that you will not hear in routine planning, especially women, children, the elderly, people with special needs, foreigners and others. Participatory planning is a cross-cutting discipline in which current megatrends, such as climate change and social inequalities, resonate strongly. The office also systematizes knowledge about participatory planning and its implementation in the planning practice. The most comprehensive work has been published as a guidebook on participatory planning and urban data research.
